Community Relations: The Community Relations Unit Consists of four uniformed officers.  The main focus of this unit is to educate citizens and business operators in the areas of crime prevention and safety.  These officers are responsible for coordinating all community oriented policing activities throughout the city.  The officers of this unit organize meetings involving the neighborhood watch group.  The Community Relations Unit is also responsible for the Cayce Senior Safety Club, Bicycle Patrol, The "Chat with the Chief" program and the Citizens Academy, Officers of this unit also conduct security surveys of businesses and residents in an attempt to give citizens information on ways to make their home or business more secure.  

Home Checks: Have your home checked by police while you are out of town on business or vacation.

Security Surveys:  Have the Community Relations Officer come to your home or business to give ideas and tips on security.

Crime and Fire Prevention:  There are a wide variety of programs available on crime and fire prevention topics.

Business Crime Fax:  A direct communication link with the department to receive vital crime prevention information.

Operation Nightwatch:  A program designed to assist parents in protecting their children from the streets between midnight and 6AM.

Combat Auto Theft (C.A.T.):  C.A.T. is a voluntary program designed to help in the fight against auto theft.  By enrolling in the program the registered owner signs a waiver giving the police the right to stop his or her vehicle during the hours 1:00 AM and 5:00AM.   A decal is placed in the rear window when the car is registered in the program.  To register your car for C.A.T. call the Community Relations office of Cayce at, (803) 739-0684 

Cayce Senior Safety Breakfast Club:  For citizens age 55 and older to socialize with others and learn more about safety and crime prevention.

 

S.T.A.R. Program:  In an attempt to further serve the needs of persons, who are designated as being "at Risk".  The goal of the S.T.A.R. program (System for Tracking At Risk People) is to identify, ahead of time, persons who may require special attention because of a disability, and particularly those who may be prone to wander away from family members or other care-givers.   

Operation Lifeline:  This program is a special monitoring service that is offered to elderly citizens who reside alone or have special needs.  Volunteers in conjunction with Cayce Department of Public Safety to check on the safety and well being of all participants, will call all participants in this program on a daily basis.  If contact cannot be made with participants by telephone, a officer will be immediately dispatched to the resident.
