Child and Elderly Abuse Investigations
The Child and Elderly Abuse Investigator has the responsibility of handing all crimes that pertain to any type of abuse to a child or the elderly in our city. These cases include, but are not limited to, criminal sexual conduct, abuse and neglect of children and abuse and neglect of the elderly. We are involved in the screening process of child/elder abuse cases to aid in the determination of proper referral, action plans, and minimizing trauma to the victim. We also handle coordination with other agencies that share responsibility for child/elder welfare. The Child and Elder Abuse Investigator works closely with the school resource officers with any request that they have for assistance, preparing case files for court from Resource Officers, and seeing that they are delivered to the Solicitor's office or Department of Juvenile justice in a timely manner.
The Investigator also has the opportunity to speak to church and community groups on concerns of the elderly, and to parents or caregivers about juvenile problems and procedures.
