Arrests of Note for April 2008
On
the morning of May 25th, officers responded to 1418 Lexington Street
for a burglary that had just occurred. Officers arrived and found that the home
had been burglarized and officers found fresh footprints leaving the crime
scene. Officers set up a perimeter and stopped a subject walking down Julius
Felder Street. Officers discovered that the subject who had been stopped had in
his possession stolen jewelry from the residence on Lexington Street. Tracking
dogs were called and assisted officers by tracking to the subject that officers
had stopped on Julius Felder Street. The subject was charged with Burglary 1st
and Possession of Stolen Property.
Officers
were dispatched to the 1200 block of Hemlock Street for a call of a man with a
gun. The unknown caller advised that the male subject told him that he was going
home to get his gun and come back. The caller provided a clothing description
and officers located the subject in the 1200 block of Hemlock Street. The
subject was ordered to the ground and was detained. Officers found a 32 caliber
revolver in the subjects front pants pocket. The subject was arrested and
charged with Unlawful Weapon.
Officers
responded to Airport Boulevard for a report of 10 juveniles breaking into two
vacant houses. When officers arrived eight of the ten juveniles ran from
officers who were caught and brought back to the scene. All juveniles were
charged with Trespassing and Vandalism through Family Court and released to
their parents.

effort to serve multiple warrants on suspects wanted for Drug Possession and

result of this 3 month operation and sweep, 10 wanted suspects were arrested for
various drug charges and Probation and Parole violations.

Our
department has recognized a developing trend recently that involves individuals
preying upon religious groups and relying upon their benevolence to extort money
from them.
We
felt that it is necessary to alert all of our religious organizations in the
City of Cayce to this developing trend and ask that you inform your personnel
and members and contact our department immediately if you encounter any similar
situations as outlined below.
The
ruse usually involves a phone call from either someone who claims to have
attended the church or a supposed law enforcement official calling on their
behalf. The person(s) claim to have some sort of financial hardship while
traveling out of state and need additional money to pay a repair bill for their
vehicle or other needs so that they may return to our state. Usually the person
calling will have specific names of the pastor/preacher or other personnel at
the church to add validity to their story.
I
would encourage you to be very leery of any situations similar to the one
mentioned and I would ask that you share this information with all organizations
that may fall prey to this type of thievery.
