Drug Seizures Award

Officer Dennis Tracy was honored as the DEA/EPIC Interdiction Officer of the Year for 2005. This award is given to the interdiction officer who has the highest reported seizures nationwide. Officer Tracy was given this award due to the total number and weight of the drugs he seized during the 2004-2005 period. He is to be congratulated for his continuing efforts and contributions in the war on drugs. 

 

Burglaries solved

During the months of November and December 2005 there were several burglaries reported at The University Commons Apartment complex. Suspects were breaking into apartments of students who were out of town and stealing laptops, desktop computers, jewelry, cash, and other items. Investigators and patrol units worked many hours and were finally able to identify a suspect in these crimes. Once the first suspect was interviewed several other suspects were identified. Investigators were able to recover thousands of dollars worth of stolen property from theses crimes and return it to victims. 

 

Bank Robber Captured in N.C.

During the month of November 2005 Allsouth Federal Credit Union on Knox abbott drive was robbed. The suspect passed a note to a teller demanding money and then made his getaway in a car. The bank was able to provide investigators with the following surveillance photos of the incident:

              

After these pictures were aired on Crimestoppers, investigators received several tips which eventually led to the identification of the suspect as Pearly Ray Mcilwaine jr. from Columbia. Warrants were issued for the suspect and he fled to North Carolina. He was captured in North Carolina on January 24, 2006 and is currently awaiting extradition.
